Alameda County is moving forward quickly with establishing a community choice energy (CCE) program. A community choice energy program would provide a public, not-for-profit alternative to PG&E to provide electricity services in the county.
At their meeting on August 2nd, the Alameda County Board of Supervisors (BoS) will vote on whether or not to form a joint powers authority to establish a Community Choice energy program for Alameda County. They will also decide whether to approve the Joint Powers Authority agreement (the foundation document for the Community Choice program) which will be proposed to all participating cities.
If you live in Alameda County, send a message to the county Supervisors asking them to make the most of this window of opportunity when the program is being developed to shape a program that will create local jobs and cut greenhouse gas emissions by prioritizing the development of local renewable resources! You can send a letter to the Supervisors through this email action alert developed by the Sierra Club.
There will be a press conference by Local Clean Energy Alliance at 8:30am before the meeting.
