Stop Phillips 66 Crude-By-Rail 2/4

Watch a short video where Heidi Harmon from San Luis Obispo 350 invites us to stand with her & San Luis Obispo residents: here.

Join people from across the state who are traveling to San Luis Obispo to support local residents in their fight to stop Phillips 66 from gaining a land use permit for a rail spur in San Luis Obispo County. The proposed project would allow Phillips 66 to import tar sands oil from Canada and transport it by rail through the Bay Area and many populated areas in CA on its route to San Luis Obispo. The toxic tar sands would then be partially refined in San Luis Obispo and then sent by pipeline to Rodeo in the East Bay where it would complete the refining process. We must protect our communities from dangerous crude-by-rail, we must end tar sands exploitation, and we must keep at least 80% of all known fossil fuel reserves in the ground to stay under 1.5 degrees Celsius global warming.

There are so many reasons to oppose this project, & there are so many ways to participate. Folks from all over California are converging in San Luis Obispo to attend the San Luis Obispo Planning Commission meeting where they will be discussing Phillips 66' land use permit application, and we will be having a rally at noon. We will be taking carpools from the Bay Area.
