Thanks to the hard work of many activists and organizations around the state, including 350 Bay Area, the California Public Utilities Commission(CPUC) is poised to enact a decision that would maintain the policies on rooftop solar that have made California a clean energy leader.
But now our major utilities are pulling out all the stops, lobbying the PUC to weaken the final decision. The outcome will have major implications for health and well-being in our own communities and other states that are looking to California as a solar leader. We need to speak up once more, at the CPUC's meeting on January 28th. This will likely be the meeting where they vote on the decision. We encourage you to take the opportunity to speak during public comment, but showing up at the meeting and being visible has a big impact, too!
Want to take action right now? Send a letter to the CPUC and ask them to keep California moving forward as a clean energy leader.
UPDATE: Model letter you can send as an individual to CPUC members(through email or snail mail) between now and Jan 21st! Commissioner contact info is located at the bottom of the letter. The model letter has a sample introduction and conclusion paragraph, along with several sub-points--we recommend choosing the points that speak most strongly to you. The bullets in the model letter are also great talking points for the Jan 28th meeting!
Speaking During Public Comment: It's recommended to sign up in advance to speak during public comment, which you can do at this link. You can also sign up before the hearing starts on the day of. NOTE: If you speak during public comment at the CPUC meeting, please introduce yourself as a concerned ratepayer, or on behalf of another group you're affiliated with. Since 350 Bay Area is an official "party" to the net metering proceeding and submitted official public comments, we can't speak as individuals on behalf of 350 Bay Area during the meeting itself.

Join solar activists for a rally organized by Vote Solar at 9am, on the steps of the CPUC building before the hearing at 9:30am.
