The San Francisco Employee Retirement System (SFERS) Retirement Board will be holding a Special Meeting on Wednesday, February 19, 2014. At the meeting the SFERS staff will be presenting its report on Level I and Level II engagement of fossil fuel companies to the Retirement Board. These levels include supporting existing shareholder resolutions, and creating new shareholder resolutions.
If the Board finds that these levels of engagement are not effective (and how can they be given that the business model of a fossil fuel company is to sell fossil fuels!), the Board could decide to move to Level III engagement, which is full divestment. This meeting is a follow-up to the hearing that the Retirement Board held on October 9, 2013 regarding Board of Supervisors resolution urging the San Francisco Retirement Board to Divest from Fossil Fuel Companies (BOS Resolution #126-13).
The Special Meeting will be held at the Health Commission Board Room (101 Grove Street, Room 300) and the fossil fuel report will be heard at 3:00 p.m.
