San Francisco Keep It In the Ground Bill

Fracking? In San Francisco? Close enough. A couple of years ago our very own Jed Holtzman went on a data mining expedition and discovered black gold. That is, the City and County of San Francisco funds Parks, Recreation and Libraries with proceeds from land it owns and leases to Chevron (for hundreds of thousands $/yr) for oil and gas extraction, most likely some of it fracked.

Jed has teamed up with Supervisor John Avalos to get the San Francisco Board of Supervisors to call a halt, by passing the Keep It in the Ground Bill. The Budget and Finance Committee holds a Hearing on the Bill Wednesday, October 26 at 10:00 am.

San Francisco is not the only California jurisdiction profiting from dirty oil and gas leases, but it could be the harbinger of others deciding to shed these hideous and hypocritical operations. Come to the Hearing and show your support.
