On November 30th, join Idle No More SF Bay in SAN FRANCISCO to support water protectors on the frontline at STANDING ROCK. This is part of a national call for 3 days of withdrawal on Nov 30, Dec 1st, & Dec 2nd. Actions are happening across the country.
We are calling on all Wells Fargo customers to participate in a day of mass account withdrawal. If you have an account with one of Big Oil’s biggest bankers, we ask that you pull out your money and close your account.
To join us, just show up at some point during the morning’s action. From 8-10 a.m., we will hear speakers on divestment and be led in a water prayer by Pennie Opal Plant (Idle No More SF). From there, we will head to Wells Fargo and other surrounding banks to create a mass withdrawal.
We encourage you to film a video of yourself inside your bank, or in front of it, briefly describing why you have withdrawn your money and to share it on social media. We also encourage you to close your account and open one with a local credit union who supports projects you believe in. Learn about how to withdrawal your funds under 'How to Divest".
We will keep a running tally of how much money people have withdrawn and announce the total at day’s end. At the close of the business day, we will call into Standing Rock and announce the tally to the water protectors.
We demand that Wells Fargo divest immediately from the Dakota Access Pipeline family of companies and terminate their role as Energy Transfer Partners’ financial gatekeeper (i.e., “administrative agent”). Come prepared with signs and artwork (Standing Rock and Wells Fargo Divesting) that will visually spread the message loudly! Here is a link to Indigenous Rising Media to print out official Standing Rock artwork.
Please share a letter with your friends asking them to join in. Share this action on social media. Most importantly, join us on November 30th.
If you can’t make it to SF event, we’ll be sharing through Facebook Live via @Farewellsfargo facebook page. Please check back to see how the events are unfolding.
