Want to learn more about working with your state legislators (assembly members and senators) to promote and support key climate legislation? 350 East Bay and Fossil Free California are working together to provide a hands-on legislative training for 350 Bay Area volunteers who are interested in getting more involved in our climate action policy work at the state level. We will be joined by Rebecca Saltzman, Government Affairs Coordinator of California League of Conservation Voters, who will give an overview of the politics of environmental and climate legislation in Sacramento, who the players are that we need to know about (allies and opponents), and key opportunities and challenges this year.
We'll review the lessons we've learned over the last 3-4 years where 350 Bay Area has lobbied on bills like fracking, clean energy, and the major climate legislation package last year SB 350, SB 32 and SB 185. We’ll review strategies for meeting with our local legislators (or their staff) and the various approaches we’ve used to educate, pressure and generate action on specific bills at the district level and in the Capitol. Finally we'll spend some time going over the key bills we are working on this year and discuss how people like you can get involved in expanding our legislative efforts.
Please RSVP, and we will send you the location, and any last minute instructions. (Space is limited, so it is important to RSVP). If you are interested in getting more involved in our legislative organizing efforts, we hope you can join us for this interactive workshop.
