This is the hearing we have been waiting for!
San Francisco City Hall--September 14, 2015--1:30 PM--Land Use & Transportation Committee
The San Francisco Board of Supervisors Land Use and Transportation Committee will consider the ordinance to require information labels about climate change on gas pumps introduced by John Avalos last October (!). (sample "hose talker" label at left) If the committee--Malia Cohen (chair), Scott Weiner, and Jane Kim--approve the ordinance, it will go to the full Board for final approval. We are pushing for a unanimous vote in the committee, so the ordinance will be on the consent calendar at the full board meeting.
This is a great opportunity for San Francisco to take national leadership in moving beyond fossil fuels. This is a simple, practically cost-free measure, that can serve to sway public opinion against fossil fuels. To be selling a product that is destabilizing our climate without even a word of caution is unacceptable. Please come to the hearing to make sure San Francisco does the right thing and takes the lead on this crucial issue.
