From the fracking fields in Kern County to urban oil drilling in Los Angeles, community members are feeling the impacts of this toxic industry on their health. But so far the Governor and the rest of our elected officials have failed to take action. We need to engage and build power with communities and elected officials to combat the oil industry’s stranglehold on our health and democracy.
That's why the Center for Biological Diversity and allies are bringing together individuals from impacted communities in California, along with legislators, health professionals and scientists for a 2-part forum called Drilling Down Into Health Impacts: The effects of oil and gas on California's Communities .
Participants will hear their personal stories and struggles, then learn the science behind their experiences. Attendees come away with a clear idea of what is really happening in those fields and what they can do to end to these destructive practices.
