JAB! PUNCH! JAB-JAB-UPPERCUT! KNOCK OUT!
Ever wished you could give the oil industry your best left hook? Now you can. 350 Bay Area joins Alameda County Against Fracking for some clean, extreme boxing street theater, and help knock fracking out of our county.
At Knock Out Oil!, giant bunches of grapes and person-sized suns will duke it out in the boxing ring against oil barrels and fracking rigs. The event is part of a the Clean Not Extreme statewide day of action across California. Communities from Eureka to San Diego are gathering to tell Gov. Brown and the oil industry that enough is enough – it’s time to take action against fracking and toward a 100% renewable future.
We're facing a crucial moment in the movement to turn away from extreme extraction and toward clean energy. Every time we’ve confronted Governor Jerry Brown about halting fracking over the past few years, he’s insisted that we wait until the release of an independent scientific report. Well, on July 9, the report came out, and, not surprisingly, it rang scores of alarm bells about the dangers extreme energy poses to our air, water, geological security, and public health.
It’s now clear that lives are at risk if we don’t stop these dangerous practices immediately. So we’re coming together in Oakland to demand clean, not extreme energy, right now, in our own county and across California.
