Sounds nerdy--Why should I attend?

If you are a California climate activist, you should attend because:

  • California is counting on Cap and Trade to maintain its role as global climate leader, but;

  • Cap and Trade may not be effective in actually cutting greenhouse gas emissions; and

  • Many environmental justice groups oppose Cap and Trade as harmful to frontline communities, however;

  • Cap and Trade generates billions of dollars for green energy development and programs to help disadvantaged communities; and

  • Cap and Trade is facing legal and political challenges that may leave California without a way to tax carbon emissions.

Co-sponsored by the Sierra Club Bay Chapter and 350 Bay Area
