Benicia just had a major victory in stopping the proposed Crude-By-Rail facility that would have brought dangerous oil trains to Benicia!
But already, Big Oil is gearing up to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to attack our champions on city council, and to try to re-gain control. We can’t let that happen. We need to protect our victory and our champions, and make sure we re-elect Mayor Elizabeth Patterson and elect planning-commission-champion Steve Young to the City Council.
Valero isn’t leaving Benicia, and they already have a number of polluting facilities impacting the community -- so we need to make sure we elect a Mayor and City Council that will stand up for the people of Benicia and hold Valero accountable.
Vote-By-Mail ballots have already arrived in people’s mailboxes -- we’re planning big outreach events to make sure that we talk to voters before Valero and their Big Oil cronies get to them.
On Saturday October 15th, join Communities for a Better Environment Action for a critical canvass to talk to community members about the crude-by-rail issue.
Valero is anticipated to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on advertisements spreading misinformation, we need to get out and talk to community members before it happens. Mayor Patterson and Steve Young have operate with integrity, earned our trust, and have never received money from Valero’s PAC.
Meet at the Gazebo.
