Air District staff  Climate Strategy Update

BayCAP Climate Action Proposals

The Climate Action Resolution was passed. Now what?

The Climate Protection Committee will be asked to bless a Climate Work Program for Air District staff to develop a regional Climate Action Strategy and send it to the Board for adoption. It's very short on specifics for now. To move this process along we need to take every opportunity to tell Board members very clearly what we want:

  • !00% renewable electricity region wide by 2035
  • transportation sector powered by renewable energy
  • improved agricultural practices to protect the soil and reduce GHGs
  • clean industrial power
  • conversion plan and worker retraining for the Bay Area's five refineries anticipating 80-100% shutdown in accordance with expected reductions in California demand for petroleum products.

Present your comments and/or support others prepared to speak. If you can't come, contact Committee members directly.
