Across California, the dominos of fracking are toppling over. Butte County just banned fracking by a landslide 71% vote. Let’s make Alameda County next, and set the golden standard for the Bay Area and beyond.
The fracking ban has finally made it to the Board of Supervisors. Our ordinance even got to skip a final sub-committee called Transportation & Planning – a move that shows that we’ve built an incredible amount of power and propelled our campaign to the top of our elected officials’ priorities. And our campaign is splashing across headlines; check out this coverage in the East Bay Times
if you missed it.
But we can’t let our guard slip until we’ve won. Over the past few months, we’ve seen the oil industry delay us and threaten to gut the ban entirely, forcing us to pour extra time and precious energy into fighting for our clean water. Now the industry is gearing up to deceive, inveigle, and obfuscate however they can, to stop our Supervisors from doing the right thing.
So we must show up en masse to speak during the public comment period & to pack the house & show them what the community stands for.
